Placing technology in grassroots businesses
In Vijayawada, the Andhra Pradesh Government has begun a programme that trains women from self-help groups (SHG) to use artificial intelligence and digital tools to expand their businesses. It is titled: One family, One entrepreneur: AI for sure
This initiative is a part of the broader vision of making every family in the state economically independent.
Training in Digital Marketing and AI
This program involves 160 women entrepreneurs who are being trained in social media, promotion, e-commerce strategy, and brochure design. Trainers are also introducing them to AI tools that simplify branding and expand customer reach.
Long-term vision: Swarnandhra 2047
The initiative also aligned with the state’s Swarnandhra 2047 roadmap, which aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in women-driven entrepreneurship by 2047. Officials say that Digital upskilling is the only way forward to ensure that every rural woman is not left behind in the tech-driven era.
Success stories from the past
This is not Andhra Pradesh’s first such effort. In earlier times, around 700 SHGs, women underwent training in financial literacy and marketing. Many of them have launched businesses in eco-friendly products, handicrafts, and food processing. Some are even gaining international buyers through e-commerce platforms.
