Indore Launches 100-Day Mission to Transform Depalpur into “Swachh Nagar Parishad”

The Indore Municipal Corporation has set an ambitious target to convert Depalpur into a model “Swachh Nagar Parishad” within the next 100 days. The initiative, part of the Swachh Shehar Jodi campaign, aims to replicate Indore’s nationally recognized cleanliness standards in its satellite towns.

An MoU has already been signed to kickstart the mission. Officials said the project would focus on multiple fronts, including solid waste management, public awareness drives, and stricter enforcement of anti-littering measures. To strengthen monitoring, CCTV cameras will be installed across key points in the town.

A unique aspect of the project will be the beautification of Depalpur through sculptures and installations made out of locally sourced iron waste. Authorities believe this will not only enhance the town’s appearance but also promote the concept of recycling and sustainable use of resources.

In order to ensure citizen participation, the administration has announced a cash reward of ₹11 lakh for the cleanest ward. Additionally, over 25,000 cloth bags will be distributed free of cost to discourage the use of single-use plastic. Officials also clarified that after an initial awareness period, those found littering will face heavy fines of up to ₹25,000.

Speaking about the project, municipal officials expressed confidence that Depalpur would become a benchmark for other towns in Madhya Pradesh. “Indore has consistently topped the national cleanliness rankings, and now it is our responsibility to extend the same standards to nearby towns. With community involvement and strict monitoring, this mission will succeed,” said a senior officer.

The 100-day mission is expected to significantly improve sanitation, waste disposal, and overall urban infrastructure in Depalpur, positioning it as one of the state’s cleanest Nagar Parishads.
