Chhattisgarh has received a direct rail connection to both Gujarat and Odisha through the newly launched Amrit Bharat Express, a move expected to streamline travel and boost regional connectivity.
The train was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and runs between Udhna in Gujarat and Brahmapur in Odisha, passing through key stations including Raipur and Gondia. The service aims to reduce travel disruptions for passengers traveling westward to Gujarat or eastward to Odisha, eliminating the need for multiple train changes along the route.
Officials said the new link will benefit both daily commuters and long-distance travelers, making journeys faster and more convenient. It is also expected to encourage economic activity, as improved rail connectivity allows smoother movement of goods and people across these states.
The Amrit Bharat Express forms part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to enhance inter-state connectivity, reduce travel time, and improve passenger experience through modern and direct rail services.
With this addition, Chhattisgarh strengthens its position as a key transit hub in central India, facilitating easier access to western and eastern regions while supporting economic growth and regional integration.
