In a major push to strengthen employment and empower women entrepreneurs, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Textile Mitra Park, a sprawling 1,100-acre textile hub under the UPCMY initiative. The launch is part of a broader effort to make Uttar Pradesh a national hub for textile production, skill development, and women-led microenterprises.
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister personally distributed 150 sewing machines to women, urging them to take advantage of the “One District One Product” scheme to establish sustainable businesses. The program is aligned with Mission Shakti, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women across the state through training, financial support, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
“Empowering women in the textile sector is crucial for the economic growth of Uttar Pradesh. With initiatives like Textile Mitra Park, women can not only earn a livelihood but also contribute to the overall prosperity of their communities,” CM Adityanath said.
The Textile Mitra Park will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, training centers, and market access for local artisans and startups. Women will be offered workshops on product design, business management, and digital marketing to help them scale their ventures.
Officials highlight that the initiative is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, reduce migration from rural areas, and enhance the presence of women in the formal economy. Economists have also noted that investing in women-led enterprises improves community health, education, and household income.
“When women are economically empowered, the impact is multi-fold. It strengthens families, communities, and the economy. Programs like this are not just about employment—they are about equality and social upliftment,” said Dr. Anjali Sharma, an expert in women entrepreneurship.
