The Government of India has announced a dedicated ₹500 crore fund under the Startup India initiative to boost women-led enterprises across sectors such as technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and agri-innovation.
The fund, launched in collaboration with SIDBI, will provide:
- Low-interest loans
- Seed and growth-stage funding
- Mentorship and market linkage support
- Incentives for rural and semi-urban women entrepreneurs
Union Minister Smriti Irani stated that the goal is to help at least 10,000 women entrepreneurs scale their businesses over the next three years. The initiative also includes special incubator cells at IIMs and IITs to assist first-time founders.
Industry experts say this fund could significantly improve women’s participation in India’s formal economy and encourage more investment in women-founded startups.
