In a remarkable display of public response, more than 20,000 women from Gurgaon have applied for the Deen Dayal Lado Laxmi Yojana (DDLLY) — a Haryana government scheme offering financial assistance to women from economically weaker sections. The scheme, which provides ₹2,100 every month to eligible beneficiaries, aims to strengthen the economic independence of women and reduce the financial vulnerabilities faced by low-income families.
According to district officials, the applications flooded in within just a few days of the scheme’s launch, reflecting both the urgent need and the trust that women have placed in this initiative. Women aged 23 years and above, with a family income not exceeding ₹1 lakh and a minimum residency of 15 years in Haryana, are eligible to apply through an Aadhaar-linked mobile platform.
The digital application process has not only simplified access but also ensured transparency, minimizing middlemen interference. For many women, especially homemakers and single mothers, this financial support is expected to provide a sense of stability and self-reliance — a small but significant step towards empowerment.
Local NGOs have also expressed optimism, suggesting that if implemented efficiently, this initiative could set a precedent for other Indian states to follow. With over 20,000 women already showing interest, the DDLLY stands as a powerful testament to the growing demand for women-centric welfare measures that are practical, direct, and life-changing.
