Swadeshi Mela in Noida Celebrates Women Entrepreneurs and Local Craftsmanship

A vibrant 10-day Swadeshi Mela has commenced at Noida Haat, Sector 33A, with a strong emphasis on promoting women entrepreneurs and indigenous products. The exhibition brings together over 100 stalls run by women’s self-help groups (SHGs) and units registered under the One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme.

The mela showcases a diverse range of handcrafted items and regional products, including:

• Handlooms and traditional textiles
• Organic food and wellness items
• Artisanal jewellery
• Home décor and handicrafts
• Regional snacks and beverages
• Eco-friendly lifestyle products

The event’s inauguration highlighted the significance of “Vocal for Local” and the growing economic role of women-led micro-enterprises. Organisers stated that the fair is not only a commercial platform but also an opportunity to give visibility to grassroots women entrepreneurs who often lack mainstream market access.

Visitors have expressed a strong response, appreciating the blend of culture, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Many of the participating SHG members reported increased demand for their products and expressed confidence in expanding their ventures post-event.

Alongside sales, the mela also offers live demonstrations, cultural performances, and interactive workshops to further popularise local art and crafts.

The initiative is being seen as a boost to both women’s economic empowerment and the growth of regional industries.
